2011 Desert Classic, Fiat Stanguerllini

The following photos were taken by Rex Gray at the 2011 Desert Classic in La Quinta
Please check his Flicker site for more complete coverage of this event and some really wonderful photos.

Leading up the Fiat 1100/103 TV of 1954, both Bertone and Stanguellini presented their idea of a modern Fiat. As early as 1950 they presented an 1100 and in 1953 the car was redesigned by Franco Scaglione into this attractive Berlinetta.

Both Bertone and Stanguellini were striving to make the most from Fiat components. Their 1950 Berlinetta was drastically different in appearance from our feature car, but similar in conception. Several of these early versions were outfitted for racing in events such as the Rolli-Cannara in Toscana and we wouldn't be surprised if a few showed up at the Mille Miglia.

Yo Yo Ma and Lil Buck in NYC

This is an amazing YouTube video showing the amazing talent of Yo Yo Ma and dancer Lil Buck

"The other day, I was lucky enough to be at an event to bring the arts back into schools and got to see an amazing collaboration between Yo-Yo Ma and a young dancer in LA, Lil Buck. Someone who knows Yo-Yo Ma had seen Lil Buck on YouTube and put them together. The dancing is Lil Buck's own creation and unlike anything I've seen. Hope you enjoy." -- Spike Jonze

Park at Your Own Risk

Ok, I know everyone has had this or a similar experience. Some "special" person considers that their vehicle deserves "attention" when it comes to parking and this includes making their own rules in the parking lot. We don't need no stinking lines! A total nonconformist.
I just wish I had the opportunity to foil their plan like these folks did. BRAVO!

Revenge as sweet as a Bloomin' Onion. Check out Jalopnik!

Motorplex Minneapolis

This is "Car Heaven" and rated E for everyone. Photos taken from various
sources off Google Images, links added for complete story.

Located in Burnsville, the Garage is one of the few joints in town that offers teens a break from their parents' basements and also spares them the embarrassment of getting turned away from a 21+ show. Many Twin Cities venues have all-ages nights, but this place keeps it all ages, all the time. During the day the Garage serves as an after-school youth center, offering everything from homework help and Guitar Hero sessions to weightlifting and support groups. But at night the Garage transforms into a bona fide club (minus the booze) that helps promote the local music scene. On any given weekend night, the Garage will host four or five local bands, while charging only $5 or so for an entrance fee.

Bruno Silikowski

Former management consultant Bruno Silikowski built a "country club" for owners of vintage, classic, and high-performance cars in Chanhassen. It is a place to talk wheels, hang out, and—perhaps—take your car out for a high-speed spin.

Retirement at its Best!

Old age and treachery will outlast youth and exuberance everytime....

A Well-Planned Retirement

Outside England's Bristol Zoo there is a parking lot for 150 cars and 8 buses. For 25 years, its parking fees were managed by a very pleasant attendant. The fees were for cars, about $1.40, for buses about $7.
Then, one day, after 25 solid years of never missing a day of work, he just didn't show up; so the Zoo Management called the City Council and asked it to send them another parking agent..

The Council did some research and replied that the parking lot was the Zoo's own responsibility. The Zoo advised the Council that the attendant was a City employee. The City Council responded that the lot attendant had never been on the City payroll.

Meanwhile, sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain is a man who'd apparently had a
ticket machine installed completely on his own; and then had simply begun to show up every day, commencing to collect and keep the parking fees, estimated at about $560 per day -- for 25 years.
Assuming 7 days a week, this amounts to just over $7 million dollars!
......
And no one even knows his name.

As Switchum pointed out, it's a good story, however, not true.....LOL
